Mike Munro
Mike Munro is Next Step’s Ambassador. Mike is one of Australia’s most prominent journalists. Mike has a strong sense of community and an understanding of the struggles and hardships faced by disadvantaged children and young people. He grew up no stranger to the effects of physical and emotional abuse and over the past 20 years has been mentoring and helping disadvantaged youth.
Mike began his career at 17 as a copyboy on The Daily Mirror in 1971 and stayed in newspapers for 7 years. Following the completion of his cadetship, Mike joined Channel Ten News in Sydney in 1978. Just three months later, he returned to newspapers and was posted in to New York by Rupert Murdoch to work in News Limited’s American bureau and as a presenter on the New York Post. Mike’s strong work ethic and passion for his chosen field, has seen him report and host on This is your Life, Willisee, A Current Affair, Missing Persons Unit and 60 Minutes.
Mike also gained a reputation for his candid and cheeky interviews with some of the world’s most famous women, including Katherine Hepburn, Bette Midler and Barbra Streisand. Mike continues to work in investigative journalism
